The summer appointment with the Ancient Theater is back in the marvelous setting of the archaeological area of Veleia, where the dimension (borrowed from the deeper experience of the Greek theater) of the civil ceremony of a community gathered to relive, through the scene, the myths that belong to a collective past.
This is a special and enlarged edition of the festival, which focuses on exceptional artists and on experiments created exclusively
It will host the national premiere of Antigone directed by Marco Baliani, built within "Fare Teatro" of the newly founded Bottega XNL and extraordinary artists who choose Veleia as a testing ground for special projects, completed or under study (such as Toni Servillo with texts by Giuseppe Montesano and Stefano Massini with impossible interviews) or for meetings with other artists or scholars from different cultural milieux, who agree to leave their "comfort zone" to expose themselves to contamination, trusting a proposal or a cultural suggestion ...
Together for the first time on stage Lella Costa and Jacopo Veneziani for an investigation into the origin of inspiration, Gioele Dix and Eva Cantarella with the crossed languages of history and theatrical narration; Frida Bollani Magoni and Sergio Rubini united by a particular sensitivity in approaching notes and poetic lines.
Vinicio Capossela delves into the late medieval bestiaries in an intimate and narrative concert; wonders about the meaning of "classic" Marco Castoldi / Morgan, the highly anticipated Alessandro Barbero takes us with him to late imperial Rome and Alessandro Bergonzoni, with a meeting, baptizes this edition of the Festival in which Theater, Music, Myth, Poetry they are in constant confrontation with the genius loci of Veleia "(Paola Pedazzini)
SHOW CALENDAR
At the end of each show, the La Rocca sausage factory in Castell’Arquato, the Camorali Fabrizio and Tollara Vini farm will offer the public and artists a tasting of Piacenza wines and cured meats.
The food and wine after-theater is part of the cultural tourism project underlying the ancient theater festival, which also includes aggregation among its values.
